Additional Neighborhood Energy Challenge dates announced

Additional dates for the Neighborhood Energy Challenge have been announced. There will be a workshop held on November 15 and December 5.

The Neighborhood Energy Challenge is a new full-service residential energy audit program for Rochester residents.

RPU, MMUA Tom Bovitz Memorial Scholarship Essay Award

Four scholarships are available to qualifying high school seniors planning to attend a post-secondary educational institution through the Minnesota Municipal Utility Association. One local essay will qualify for state-wide consideration. All details and guideleines for essay submission are available on the RPU web site. The deadline for essay submission to RPU is April 8, 2011.

Geothermal Class- October 12th

RPU is cosponsoring a community education class on residential geothermal heating and cooling on Tuesday, October 12 from 6:30-8:30 pm.  The class will provide you with geothermal basics: what it does and how it works and how the the technology uses the ground as a heating and cooling source. 

Whether you are building a new home or considering a new heating and cooling system for your present one, consider the economical and environmental advantages of geothermal technology.  The class will also discuss the RPU geothermal rate and rebate along with the 30% tax credit that is currently available.

RPU Seeking Nominations for Environmental Awards

Olmsted County and Rochester Public Utilities are seeking nominations for the 2009 Environmental Achievement Awards.  These awards are given to individuals, organizations, and businesses who have made a significant contribution to environmental quality in Olmsted County.

Building Operator Certification II class coming to Owatonna in January 2010

BOC Level II training is designed for those individuals who have received Level I certification or who have three or more years of experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial or institutional facility. Level II certification requires participants to attend four core courses and two supplemental courses (56 hours of training, 4.6 CEUs) and complete class exams and projects.
