Water Conservation Efforts Encouraged for all Rochester Residents

Due to drought conditions found in the watershed that Olmsted County is a part of, RPU is asking customers to reduce or restrict water usage. This includes limited irrigation, car washing, and pool filling. Please consider all water conservation efforts when using water.

6th annual “Slow the Flow” Rain Barrel sale

Zumbro Watershed Partnership will be having their 6th annual “Slow the Flow” Rain Barrel sale on Saturday, May 4th from 9 am-3 pm at Graham Park.  This is a one-day truckload sale of high quality rain barrels at $70each that would normally cost significantly more in retail stores. Rain barrels are an easy and inexpensive way to use utilize rain water for watering uses outside your home.

1,000 rain barrels to be sold on Saturday, June 5

Starting at 9 a.m on Saturday June 5th, Olmsted County will be selling 1,000 rain barrels in the parking lot of Apache Mall. The rain barrels will be selling for $45 each with a $10 rebate available for RPU water customers. Rain barrels can cut your water bill by up to 40% and by collecting rain water, they provide a healthy and natural source of water for lawns, gardens, and plant life.

In addition, compost bins will also be sold for $40 each. There is a limited supply of rain barrels and compost bins being offered.
