RPU announces events to celebrate Public Power Week, October 3-9
Learn about the Public Power formula of top-notch service and lowest rates possible

ROCHESTER, MN— Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) will celebrate Public Power Week by communicating the benefits of being a public power provider, helping to build a local home with the Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHH), and holding other special events throughout the week.

Public Power Week is a week for communities to celebrate all the benefits of having a public power provider.

“Public Power Week is a chance for RPU to articulate why the public power formula works in Rochester.  We are absolutely dedicated to providing top-notch service and the lowest rates possible,” said Larry Koshire, RPU General Manager.

Additionally, as a public power provider, RPU is also very active in helping the local community through organizations such as the RAHH.

All week long RPU will be handing out energy conservation bags with information on saving energy and a compact fluorescent light bulb to customers that visit the RPU Service Center (while supplies last).

RPU will also reach out to the community by opening its doors to the Silver Lake Plant for a tour of the facility. The tour will be on October 7 at 2 p.m. and will be approximately one hour. If you are interested in a tour, contact Tony Benson at 507-280-1534 or email at Space is limited and you must be signed-up prior to the tour.

“This week is also a time for us to make a special effort to connect with our customers and the community. We strongly encourage the community to come out and see the benefits of having a public power provider and to celebrate Public Power Week with us,” said Larry Koshire, RPU General Manager.
